1Peter 1:3: He has given us new birth into a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We are believers in that good news. We hope that you will want to join us in our life in Christ, here at Holy Nativity. We are a Christmas church! Our congregation was organized on Christmas Eve, 1964.

A History of Holy Nativity

Our first worship service was Christmas Eve 1964, hence the name, Holy Nativity.   The Reverend Archer Torrey of Korea, a priest and missionary, presided at that inaugural service.  This humble beginning, the answer to eleven years of prayer by Bishop Albert Stuart, was the catalyst for a ministry of loving outreach, touching many lives throughout the last forty-four years (06/12/2008).

The Reverend Arthur Dasher, interim vicar for almost a year, was followed by the Reverend Robert H Wright, who served from 1966-1987. The Reverend Grant M LeRoux, Jr served as rector from 1987-2003. Sister Elena Thompson served as interim vicar from late 2003 thru early 2006. The Reverend Timothy H Murphy served as vicar to both Holy Nativity & St Richard of Chichester on Jekyll Island from late 2006 through early 2008 returning to Alabama. The Rev Dcn Tony Powell begins serving God's two missions as our vicar, July 15, 2008.

Nestled among the ancient oaks and pine trees just a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, this charming church has opened its doors to all the residents of St Simons Island and all of Glynn County. The people of Holy Nativity feel specially called to reach out to those who have no church home.  We welcome you!
